Four Seasons Hotel Madrid: The Hotel That First Made Me Fall For The City

by | Sep 3, 2025 | City Guides, Hotels

Spin: Madrid. Find: A sunlit suite at the center of everything, cava at dawn, and the rooftop where a city becomes yours.

THE SPIN

I didn’t know Madrid was going to become home. I just knew I was staying at the Four Seasons, that the suite was sunlit and spacious and impossibly central, and that somewhere between the first glass of cava on the rooftop as the city was waking up and the last look at Madrid glittering below me, something shifted permanently.

That was my first visit. It would not be my last — it actually became my new home.

THE BET

The location alone is a statement. Four Seasons Madrid sits at the literal center of the city — not approximately, not conveniently, but exactly where Madrid’s pulse is strongest. Step outside and the city is already happening around you, fully formed, completely alive, offering itself up in every direction.

The hotel understands this and plays it beautifully. The soaring marble atrium crowned by a stained-glass dome sets the tone immediately — grand without being heavy, opulent without being airless. This is luxury with confidence rather than anxiety, a space that knows exactly what it is and invites you to rise to meet it.

The suite was sunlit and spacious in the way that only makes sense once you’re standing inside it — generous proportions, warm light pouring in, the kind of room that makes you slow down instinctively and start treating ordinary moments like occasions. Room service feels like ceremony here. A bubble bath feels like a plot twist. Madrid humming outside the windows feels like a promise.

THE ODDS

What makes Four Seasons Madrid worth the spin is that it plays both sides of the wheel — one of Europe’s great luxury hotels and the perfect first bet on a city that rewards bold openings.

Dani García’s rooftop restaurant brings Andalusian warmth and Michelin-level polish to bear on silky rice, decadent brioche, and sun-kissed plates that linger in the memory long after Madrid has. The wine list leans into Spain’s greatest hits — Rioja, Ribera del Duero — while quietly pointing you toward the cool-kid corners: Galicia’s crisp whites, muscular Priorat reds. The spa is a multi-level sanctuary of marble, steam, and serenity, crowned by a glass-roofed pool that feels suspended above the city entirely.

And the rooftop. Madrid’s living room, skyline and all — velvet seats, cocktails that arrive like accessories, a crowd that knows exactly where it wants to be.

THE HAND

Order cava at dawn on the rooftop. This is non-negotiable, slightly rebellious, and absolutely the move — order it the moment breakfast service begins, watch Madrid wake up below you, and understand immediately why people who come here once tend to keep coming back.

Book the Royal Suite if you’re doing this properly. Soaring ceilings, grand salons, city views that make everything feel consequential. It’s the kind of room that sets a tone for an entire relationship with a city.

Mine never really ended.

THE PASSPORT ROULETTE VERDICT 🎰

Spin it — especially if you’ve never been to Madrid.

Fair warning: the Four Seasons is so central, so confident, so perfectly pitched as a first impression of this city that you may find yourself, as I did, quietly rearranging your entire life around it.

Cava at dawn. Royal Suite. Madrid at first light.

Some spins change the whole game.
